Volunteer Spotlight: Stacy Payton

Ronald McDonald House Volunteer Spotlight: Stacy Payton

Stacy Payton began volunteering with RMHC a little over three years ago in Fort Worth, Texas. When she moved to Boise, one of the first things she did was look for a local Ronald McDonald House so she could begin volunteering. Stacy’s typical tasks are answering phone calls, greeting guests, accepting donations, and her favorite task which is writing thank you notes.

Stacy began volunteering because one of her friends invited her to make a meal at the House back in Texas. She continued to make a couple of meals and then decided to become a regular volunteer. Stacy shares that the most rewarding part about volunteering is receiving affirmations that her help is appreciated and valued. She also expresses how she loves seeing children or families with smiles on their faces. She reflected on a family that was at the House in March and how this little girl was so happy to be receiving a toy and getting to keep it. Those moments keep Stacy inspired to keep volunteering!

The Ronald McDonald House is special to Stacy because of her personal connection. Her niece and little boy stayed at the House for nine months, two years ago. Seeing the impact of the House on a family member showed Stacy how special the RMHC of Idaho House truly is. Stacy says to “Jump in and do it, if you are considering volunteering and that there is something for all skill levels.”

Stacy is one of the core volunteers who continues to make Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho such a special place!
