Dates: June 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2021
Location: Black Dog Clays, 7680 Vallejo Road, Boise, Idaho 83705
We’re excited to hold our 18th annual Western States CAT Sporting Clays Tournament to support families with sick kids. As always, the safety of our sponsors, participants, volunteers and staff is our utmost priority. Due to current social distancing, mask-wearing, and group gathering protocols, our Tournament sponsors and participants will play on their own again this year.
The format is still a 100 bird shoot at Black Dog Clays that includes your ammunition, targets, gift and Tournament poster. You can shoot on your own or with your team. The available dates to shoot are June 2, 3, 5 and 6 and you can indicate your preference when you register. Although we miss the typical comradery of our Tournament, we are excited to still be able to hold the Tournament to support the families and children we serve. If you are not able to participate this year, non-player sponsorships are also available or you can make a donation online.
Sporting Clays is the closest thing to actual field shooting of all shotgun sports. Rather than having clay birds thrown from standardized distances and angles as with skeet or trap, sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits.

Buck-A-Bird is an easy way to support families with sick kids during the 18th annual Sporting Clays Tournament. Participating shooters can pledge $1 or more per clay target (bird) they break during the Tournament. Shooters can also get friends and family involved by asking them to pledge $1 or more for every bird broken.
Thanks to our sponsor, Commercial Tire, participating teams have the chance to win cash prizes, while raising essential funds for families with sick kids. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraising teams based on how much money they’re able to raise.
Place & Prize:
1st Place: $1,200 + a trophy and permanent plaque displayed at Black Dog Clays
2nd Place: $600
3rd Place: $300
And don’t forget… it’s not just about the team who has the highest score, but who has the most skilled fundraisers! Note: Only teams of six are able to win cash prizes, but individual shooters are still encouraged to participate.
