Dial Family Chapter

Dial Family

On Sept 23, 2024, we welcomed our fourth baby girl to our family a lot earlier than expected. Baylor was born at 28 weeks weighing only 2lbs 8oz. At 20 weeks we found out I had Placenta Previa, a condition where the placenta implants in the lower part of the uterus. This meant our daughter would not be able to be delivered naturally and would need to be delivered by cesarean section. It was a very challenging pregnancy!

At 28 weeks, my placenta ruptured at home, and I lost a lot of blood. My husband called 911 and our doctor, told us to get to the hospital as soon as possible. I was rushed by ambulance, and I had an emergency cesarean. I ended up losing two liters of blood and needed two blood transfusions. Our doctor said it was a good thing we acted as fast as we did. If we had waited minutes longer, we most likely would have lost both of our lives.

Baylor ended up staying in the NICU for 87 days. There were many ups and downs, and it was exhausting and emotionally draining. The doctors and nurses took amazing care of Baylor while she was in the hospital, and we are forever grateful to all of them!

One of those many miracles was for sure the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho Family Room. I was able to get a room there during Baylor’s NICU stay. This was a huge blessing and allowed me to stay at the hospital to be close to Baylor. To have a place I could go eat, sleep, shower, and get away from hospital noises was such a much-needed break and allowed me to recharge. Having the opportunity to meet other families who were also able to utilize the RMHC of Idaho Family Room was such a humbling experience. From tiny babies in the NICU to kids with life threatening illnesses, the Family Room was a sanctuary to all of us. It was such a blessing to have a place my family could come visit, relax and have a meal together. The volunteers and staff always made us feel so loved and cared for, we are forever grateful for what the Ronald McDonald Family Room did for our family!
