Family Room Wish List

Providing wish list items for the Family Room is a great way to support families with sick children at EIRMC. Please check our Family Room Wish List and pick up one or two items the next time you’re at the store! Items can be dropped off during the Family Room’s regular hours (9 am – 9 pm, 7 days a week). We also have an online wish list where items can be ordered and shipped to the Family Room at: 3200 Channing Way, Ste 106 Idaho Falls, ID 83404.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are a huge part of keeping the Family Room running and ensuring families are receiving the comfort and support they need. Below is information on how to volunteer at the Family Room:

CORE volunteers:

Our CORE volunteers are individuals who make a long-term commitment to volunteer two to four times a month at a regular shift. CORE volunteers will often work the front desk or come in regularly to bake and/or prepare meals. If you’re interested in becoming a CORE volunteer for the Family Room, please reach out to Sarah Patterson at by email or by calling 208-227-2898.

Food From The Heart:

A home-cooked meal or baked good goes a long way in helping to make the Ronald McDonald Family Room a comfortable place to stay.

For meal preparation or baking groups, please note that all shifts close after one person has signed up for the shift. This ensures that other people outside your group will not sign up for your shift. If you have others joining you, please email Sarah Patterson. She will send you a password to share with your group so they can also sign up for the shift.

It’s easy to sign up for a volunteer shift through our VolunteerLocal online calendar. Simply follow the steps below:

  • Submit an online registration form for each person interested in volunteering
  • When registering, you can use the same email address for all family members, allowing your accounts to be linked
  • After filling out the registration form, you will receive a confirmation email
  • Once registered, you can sign up for volunteer shifts through the baking or meal preparation calendar below
  • Please email Sarah Patterson with any questions.

Notes of Encouragement

Even the smallest gestures can go a long way to make a family feel a little less alone during their child’s medical fight. A great way to show your support is by decorating notes of encouragement and adding chapstick or lotion for us to hand out to families.

A Comfortable and Supporting Environment

Families with children at EIRMC often live in outlying communities and are unable to make a quick trip back home. Families can talk in private, do laundry, and even sleep comfortably overnight in a private bedroom. Having access to these services means parents are better rested and able to participate in their child’s care.

Supporting Family-Centered Care

Caring for the whole family promotes better health care for pediatric patients. The presence of the Family Room and its volunteers has been shown to improve the well-being of the family, as well as reduce stress and the feeling of isolation.

Reducing Financial Burden on Families

Having a child in the hospital places a huge financial burden on parents and guardians. The Family Room provides a space to spend time, stay the night, and eat meals or snacks at no cost to the family.
