"The world is hugged by the faithful arms of volunteers." ~Terri Guillemets
Volunteers are a crucial part of helping the Idaho Ronald McDonald House provide a “home-away-from-home” for sick children and their families. Over 4,000 volunteers provided 9,793 hours of service last year by preparing meals, baking treats, and helping at our annual fundraising events. You can volunteer with your family, co-workers or friends with many shifts requiring only two hours of time. As a volunteer you may choose to prepare a home cooked meal, bake delicious treats, help around the House to keep it clean and comfortable, or tend to the outside of the House and yard. There is sure to be a project that will be enjoyable for you as well as help make the House a welcoming place to stay for our families.
Food From The Heart
A home-cooked meal or treat goes a long way in helping to make the Idaho Ronald McDonald House a comfortable place to stay. Volunteer shifts are available every day of the week. Review the Volunteer Calendar for available times and complete the Volunteer Activity Form. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to confirm the date and time as well as provide additional information. A few basic guidelines to consider:
- All food must be prepared at the Ronald McDonald House or in a commercial kitchen (food prepared off site cannot be served to our guest families)
- Groups should be six people or less. If you have a group with more than six people please email Micaela de Loyola-Carkin, Volunteer Coordinator, or call (208)336-5478
- Volunteers should be 7 years of age or older

Other Ways to Help
Even if you don’t live in Boise or just can’t make it to the House, there are still ways you can help support RMHC of Idaho and the families we serve.
- Knit hats/blankets for babies
- Make homemade cards (please no specific religious material)
- Collect pop tabs, drop them off at a local recycler
- Organize a wish list, welcome bag or toy drive
Anyone under 18 must be supervised by an adult when volunteering. We do have evening and weekend shifts available so students can fulfill community service requirements either baking, preparing a meal or working on projects around the House. Students can also perform volunteer projects outside of the Idaho RMH to complete their time commitment by organizing a pull tab recycling drive, book drive, snack food drive, making blankets or homemade cards just to name a few.
We have a variety of opportunities throughout the year for Eagle Scouts to complete their Volunteer Service Designation. If the Eagle Scout has a specific project they would like to complete please contact Micaela de Loyola-Carkin, Volunteer Coordinator, to see if the project is beneficial to the Idaho RMH. There are also projects that the Idaho RMH encourages which are always helpful including wish list drives, welcome bag drives, toy drives, homemade quilts or blankets, etc.
